Hi All!
I hope you’re having a great week so far. As always, here are your weekly tips & tricks to keep you on track with your goals.
1. “The higher your energy levels, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results.” — Tony Robbins
Taking care of your energy levels is one of the best things you can do for yourself. When you eat a nutrient-rich diet, get enough sleep, go to the gym, and control your stress levels, you will not just feel more motivated, but you will also be more hopeful about the future. It significantly improves your odds of success. What change can you make right now that will lead to an improvement in your energy levels?
2. “I sometimes worry about my short attention span, but not for long…” — Herb Caen
How long can you focus on a given task before your mind wanders? According to research, the human attention span has now dropped to just 8 seconds, down from 12 seconds in the year 2000. This doesn’t come as a surprise given that many of us own and use smartphones. The mere presence of a smartphone can weaken our ability to focus on a task.
The solution? Consider leaving your phone in another room the next time you need to get something done. You are less likely to check for notifications if it’s not within plain sight. Over time, you will find that your attention span improves and that you can more easily focus on the task at hand.
3. “People want the greatest outcome for the least amount of work. All energy moves along the path of least effort.” — Mike van der Poel
What we tend to forget is that goals take a long time to achieve. It’s requires years of consistent effort before you can enjoy the fruits of your labor. Along the way, it can be difficult to stay focused on one goal at a time. This week’s article on MikevanderPoel.com is titled, “Why We Struggle to Focus on One Goal at a Time“. It’s a short 3-minute read on why many of us get distracted by more luring endeavors on the path to success.
Until next week,
Mike van der Poel
