Chances are that you’ve experienced the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon before, also known as the frequency illusion. It occurs when something you just found out about suddenly seems to pop up everywhere. Seeing the same car everywhere after you’ve just purchased it is one example of this phenomenon at work. There hasn’t been an increase in the number of that particular car around you; You just rarely noticed it before because it wasn’t within your focus.
2. “Focus on the act and efforts, not on the outcome and obstacles.” – Amit Kalantri
When you concentrate on the things you can control, it won’t be up to luck or circumstance whether you do well in life. That’s the locus of control in action. It refers to someone’s perception of the main causes of events in their life. Have you been focusing acts and efforts, or outcomes and obstacles?
3. “The moment you put a deadline on your dream, it becomes a goal.” – Harsha Bhogle
If you want to accelerate your progress on a goal, it’s a good idea to attach a deadline. To hold yourself accountable, give a friend or family member some money, but only let them keep it if you fail to complete your goal by the deadline.
